I’ve been publishing professionally since 1993. This page assembles my best publications together. You’ll find that I avoid writing dry, stuffy articles. Rather, I enjoy writing “down and dirty,” practical guides to exploring new musical worlds (e. g. The Road to Blues Mastery) or articles sharing perspectives from my first-hand relationship with great musicians (e. g. Leroy Jenkins Improvising Innovator). Below, you’ll find a categorized compendium of articles I’ve written on eclectic styles, teaching artistry, and classical pedagogy. I also include a section with additional resources from my teachers, or handouts I use with students and workshops. Enjoy!
